Brief Introduction

Wang Chunmei, professor and doctoral supervisor of Northwest University. She has been a visiting scholar at Iowa State University, USA, and CSIRO, Australia. Her research is mainly about quantitatively assessing regional soil erosion using remote sensing and GIS. In recent years, she has chaired 3 national projects, including the National Key R&D Program of China for young scientists and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. She also participated in more than 10 national projects, including the National 973 Project, the National Key R&D Program of China, and the Strategic Priority Research Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, et al.. She has published more than 70 papers and 5 monographs. Her main academic contributions are to participate in proposing remote sensing survey methods for soil and water loss assessment applicable to large regions, and she has conducted a series of works in multi-scale gully erosion monitoring and simulation and built the ephemeral gully location prediction model at the regional scale. The methods for soil and water conservation survey in extreme rainstorms raised by Prof. Wang was adopted by the Ministry of Water Resources of P.R. China.
