Brief Introduction

Prof. Milan Konecny, Director of the Laboratory of Geo-Information Science and Cartography at Masaryk University, Czech Republic, Member of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences and President of the European Center. His current research focuses on geographic information science and cartography in early warning and emergency management. He is currently the Chairman of the International Cartographic Association's "Cartography and Early Warning and Emergency Management" professional committee, the vice president of the International Digital Earth Society (ISDE), and the president of the European Research Group IEAS. Milan Konecny is also Professor of Geoinformatics and Regional Geography at the University of Konstantina Filozofa, Slovakia, Visiting Professor at the University of Vienna and the University of Chinese in Hong Kong, Honorary Professor at the Siberian State Institute of Geodesy, and Honorary Doctor of Architecture and Geodesy University in Bulgaria. Member of the editorial board of international journals such as the International Journal of Digital Earth and the International Journal of Geographic Information Science, and expert in the EU "Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES)" program and the "Spatial Information Infrastructure (INSPIRE)" program.
